“According to research, if you book your flight tickets at midnight - Monday through Wednesday, you get cheaper air fares. So - stay awake, save more!”
We all love travelling, whether it may be going to beaches or to mountains whatever type of person you may be or even both. But irrespective we all can agree travelling can be an expensive affair especially by air. So, I have decided to share some of the tricks I use to book my flights so that you can get more for your rupee on your next vacation.
1. Be ready to change travel dates
You might have come across websites claiming that booking flight tickets on a Tuesday or travelling on a weekday would save you big bucks. But that’s not always true. So, I suggest you check out the prices for the entire month.
2. Book your flights well in advance
This one is quite common, and you might also have heard about it. Flight companies sell off initial seats at a much lower cost (sometimes even without any profit margin) just to lure in customers and then steadily as the flight starts filling up the increased prices.
3. Use incognito when searching for flights
Websites keep tracking your activity on the web and change their prices accordingly. Well, that happens due to the cookies in your browser (you should clear them every week). The website increases the fare after repeated search, so that you book your flight, then and there. You begin to anticipate that prices will increase further. Hence, we advise - when you search for flights, do it in the incognito mode.
4. Make use of flight points
If you’re a frequent flyer of a particular airline, you certainly earn air miles points as part of the loyalty program offered by the airline or your credit card provider. For instance, Jet Airways offers JetPrivilege Miles wherein, depending on your miles, you can use them to get cheaper flight fares. You can make most of these points while travelling to domestic destinations.
